This is perfect for me. Our p2p Internet radio application can be described as
BitTorrent, only for streams instead of files. We don't
actually use BitTorrent for the swarming layer because BitTorrent has a number of
quirks which make it unsuitable for streams, but we use
Swarmcast, which is pretty much the same thing.

This is exactly our philosophy. Our goal with Internet radio (and in the future video
broadcasting) is to gather Creative Commons
licensed content and then set up stations which distribute it for free. Once you're
willing to let go of control of the distribution of
your content, you can save tons of money on distribution costs by letting fans do it
for you. I would love to be able to tell people who
have content they want to distribute about our handy methods for doing so for free.

Jason Asbahr is local and has been working on some interesting things in this area.
His company is roxorgames.com, his personal website
is asbahr.com, and his e-mail is [EMAIL PROTECTED] He worked on UO2 and now has his
one company ramping up to do some crazy MMORPG stuff.

Also Glyph Lefkowitz moved, but used to live in Austin, so might want to come down and
visit for the weekend. He runs an open source
python project for MMORPG and other massive distributed applications called Twisted.
His team has been dominating the big python
conference for the last couple of years. His site is twistedmatrix.com. E-mail is

Sony Online Entertainment has a branch here as well, so they might be interested in
sending someone.

Gnosis isn't available yet, but it will be by the conference. It will be on our
website, which is decentralize.org.
