Just keep in mind that Astaro rquires 1.5G of HDD space minimum,
whilst OpenBSD can get by 200M. I am not so sure that devoting
creative resources to fw in Linux is a wise business decision in this
environment of survival. 2.4 is finally getting closer to a Unix way
of filtering, still it's not tested well enough as others noted. 2.2
is a proven technology , but a dog when you want to get creative with
VPN's. The only strong thing that could go for fw on Linux would be
"easy" management tool/interface - that's what Mandrake is trying to
accomplish (the way I understand it). Noble task. Yet, it remains to
be seen how well it will play squeezed in between "easy" and cheap
hardware solutions and powerful 10 year old *BSD box. I am not
talking about really big business settings. IP_Chains are too
confusing for primitive minds like mine. Originality of a 50 year old
lady in a mini skirt. I have no man-hours to waist - too many things
to do. just my overly biased 2 centimes :)
best, Yuri
