i have never got thisto work either, if s/o could explain what needs to be
enabled to allow ntp to work it would be very helpful, i assume that ntp is
more than just a workstation initiating a connection to the net because the
default setting is to allow all traffic from behind the firewall outwards
isn't it? and yet ntp seems to be blocked somehow, i forget what port ntp
uses, i read up on it once and they were something like 123 or 137 or
something low like that but even when i read what they were and opened them
in all directions ntp didn't work, i assume that whatever isn't going on is
also preventing the firewall itself from using ntp because having entered
several different ntp servers from around the uk into the http-naat dialogue
i am still waiting to see the amchine correct its time from being 2 min's out
- and yes i did run '/etc/init.d/xntpd restart' !
