Dave, Thank you for that info. I'd been thinking of taking Mandrake's source rpm and compiling it myself, to ensure that I get a PII compatible kernel. Given your info, I wonder why problems have been reported for P166 and P200 and why Mandrake's secure kernel maintainer seemed to agree that the configuration is problematical. David
