That sounds close enough for me. I tried suse 6.4 and 7.1 on my
machine but both had problems getting ppp to work. This is
a horrible bootstrap problem: I need a working ppp connection
to download upgrades to ppp and to share evt. code changes,
and to really start using linux; I'm writing this from Mac OS 8.1.
This is also the reason why want to try another linux distro.
My G3 has two hard disks, a 40Gb maxtor and a 1.2Gb quantum (which
came with the machine). Both are dual boot Mac + linux.
The 40Gb has 3 ext2 partitions to experiment with and enough room
on it's mac partitions to evt. download a minimal mandrake linux.
The only non standard hardware is a PCI USB card.
Here are my questions:
- does ppp work ok. on your G3?
- what do I do to get a minimal mandrake linux booting?
