Verified here. Xpmac is not the greatest X server. It's mostly included
as a fallback for those machines that XFree4 setup is problematic on.

Control-Command(Apple)-Fx is normal on PPC - on my Powerbook, I have to
hold down "Fn" too.

Looking at this again, I think it's due to an interaction with Aurora, as
they are both using the framebuffer, because during the install I'm able
to switch to the VT's and back.

You could try disabling Aurora, or upgrading to XFree4, which will be
quite a bit faster and more capable than Xpmac.

On a positive note, I just helped a user get an iBook2 running X
yesterday, and with his feedback, that has been rolled into the installer
too, as well as the modelines you folks have given me for the TiBook,
and Pismo.
