It doesn't really. If you follow the link from /etc/X11/X, you'll see a
small shell script that runs Xpmac. Did you get the same behavior during
the install?

The program is part of X3.3, and essentially is a hacked up version of
Xsun - the Sun Xserver. I don't think it carried through to X4.

Depends on the Mac - I haven't heard anyone speak of significant
improvements moving from X4.03 to X4.1+. Tell us what machine you have
and maybe we can help get get you going with XFree.
