So this beta is based on beta2/x86 then? Because gnome works just
peachy in beta1... although I think beta2 had a lot more issues than
beta1.

Yup. GNOME is loading right now. =)
Hmmm... sawfish sure took a while to start. I spoke too soon. GNOME
starts, but does nothing. More required packages:

After all of this, GNOME starts but sawfish doesn't...
.xsession-errors shows nothing, but trying to start sawfish on the
commandline shows:
error--> (file-error "No such file or directory" "rep/data/tables")
Hmmm... ok, after more digging, librep isn't being built properly
under PPC. It installs table.{so,la} into:
/usr/lib/rep/0.15.2/powerpc-mandrake-linux-gnu/rep/data
if I rename powerpc-mandrake-linux-gnu to ppc-mandrake-linux-gnu
sawfish starts.
Now if I logout then back in again, everything seems to be working.
Ack... again I spoke too soon... =) Nautilus doesn't start "due to
an unexpected error from OAF when attempting to register the file
manager view server."
Installing oaf from cooker fixes this... now when I login again,
Nautilus is drawing my desktop, but the icons don't show up, they just
look like sheets of paper (every one of them).
That's it for now... =)
In other words... there are a *lot* of dependency issues... I haven't
checked to see if these packages are on either CD...
