You might be able to get some X functionality by adding

Driver      "fbdev"

and/or 

Option "UseFBDev"

In the "Device" section of XF86Config-4.  We do that for r128 currently,
as it has issues too.  If this works I could make it the default for your
card too, for now.  What did the installer try to setup as a driver?

Ani Joshi does a lot of work on the kernel/X drivers for PPC, I'm sure
it's just a matter of time before this card is covered.
