Just to add a couple of notes. There should have been an entry in /etc/modules.conf: alias serial macserial With devfs on my machine, the module loads as soon as it's needed. (Run kppp for instance). There certainly isn't anything wrong with forcing the load in rc.local though. Glad you got the printer going. I've never really worked much with the old Mac serial ports.
