installing sendmail requires cyrus-sasl. i could not install this but
forced sendmail to install anyway. this could be the reason
/etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail status
sendmail dead but pid file exists

[root@adsl172-187 rpm]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail restart
Shutting down sendmail: [ OK ]
Starting sendmail: [ OK ]
 (only after ^C)
When i try to use sendmail i get
[root@adsl172-187 rpm]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail status
sendmail (pid 1595) is running...
 but no mail is send.....
