all.gz is the initrd, vmlinux is the kernel. So you set all.gz as your
initrd, select the kernel, and add the kernel arguments:
root=/dev/ram3 ramdisk_size=32000
I copied all.gz and vmlinux to the System folder, along with bootx app and extension (in their proper places).
This works, but it looks like it's kernel 2.4.18 and I thought it would be 2.4.20.
I also see no less than ten kernels on the install disc 1. What should I use as the init and the kernel for the latest and greatest?
Apologies for these newbieish questions. I tried using vmlinuz-2.4.20.mdk and initrd-2.4.20-mdk.img.ext3 but bootx failed on lauch with "no suitable kernels found".

If you want any video options, or text install, etc. Those would also be
in the kernel arguments. I'm pretty sure this is covered in the tutotial
on the CDs. You can also look at yaboot.conf to see various boot
arguments.
