Cooker's default ftpd is BeroFTPD, and I bet the choice was made because
Kberoftp was supposed to make the setting up & administration of the ftp
daemon easier

However, beroftpd is IMHO still very difficult to configure, not what I
would call "user friendly" or "targetted at the newbies". For instance I
still haven't found how to create an user account on the ftp without
creating an user on the whole system.

Glftpd is really easier to use, and comes with a FAQ and a documentation
that anyone can understand. Adding an user to the ftp is as simple as
logging to the ftp and typing: site adduser <name>

Moreover, I have not heard of any exploit affecting glftpd so far.

And I'm not the only one who likes glftpd better than beroftpd since
Linuxberg gave it 5 stars when beroftpd only had 3 :)

The main url is http://www.glftpd.org , but it seems to be down today,
so here's the freshmeat appindex
