[Cooker] [Cassini] kppp problem

/usr/bin/kppp should probably have the setuid bit set, but it didn't
when I tried a clean install of Cassini earler today.  Even after fixing
that, pppd kept complaining that it needed authentication and I couldn't
make it happy.  I don't have the full error message since I reinstalled
6.0 to get ppp working happily and I didn't save the message.
