It's been impossible for over a week now for me to burn a CD and do a
Cooker install. I've been thinking it was something I was doing.
Perhaps something about there being a base/stage2.img and a
base/mdkinst_stage2.gz, but no base/gi_stage2.gz? I thought the naming
convention was changing from mdkinst_* to gi_*. Was something missed in
the transition?
After sync'ing up via fmirror, I did the following:
> cd /usr/src/misc/dist/cooker
> mkisofs -R -b images/gi_cdrom.img -c images/boot.cat -o cooker.iso .
> cdrecord -eject -v speed=4 dev=1,0 cooker.iso
During the install, Packages can not be found. Where I'd expect to
select packages, I get the following:
> An Error has occurred
> Can't find compssList at /usr/bin/perl-install/pkgs.pm line 171, <get_File>
> chunk 1704
Later when I should be able to set ZoneInfo I get:
> An Error has occurred
> cannot list the available zoneinfos at /usr/bin/perl-install/install_any.pm
> line 130
Using Alt-F2, I was able to note that there is no
/mnt/usr/share/zone-info directory
Next, when clicking [OK] after trying to set the root password:
> An error occurred
> Cat of file /mnt/etc/passwd failed: no such file or directory
Again using Alt-F2, I was able to verify that there was no passwd file.
I did an echo > passwd and was able to keep going
Last, after getting all of the above errors, I was able to get back to
package selection by selecting the radio button for selecting packages
to install from the left side of the panoramix screen. Then I was able
to select the button [Show All] and then [Select All]... but eventually
as I tried to keep working my way through, I was dropped to the console
where text scrolled by for a while before stopping at something like "It
is now safe to reboot your computer..."
What's up?
