Unfortunately (for me), I was ignorant of this initrd trick... I had to
RTFM a bit this week... ;-)
Anyway you're right, something should have gone wrong in the mkinitrd
process at the end of Mdk 6.0 install. As a matter of fact, there was no
file named initrd-2.2.9-19mdk.img in /boot.
This being said, you'll be relieved to know that such an image appeared
after having upgraded this install with Mandrake 6.0 Release 2 CD (with
name initrd-2.2.9-27mdk.img) and this seemed to solve the problem.
So I suppose the problem can't be reproduced with Cooker as well, and I
apologize for having been off-topic with it...
