This is a release problem, produced by the KDE Team.
They released their pre tar balls for testing 3 Weeks before they 
released 1.1.2. 
So only a few people were able to test the upcoming 1.1.2, but as
code was frozen by that time, bugs didn't get fixed.
E.g. kde 1.1.2 is broken with libc5 systems. It also can't be build
directly on Solaris systems. You always have to patch lots of files
to get it running. 
So considder the Fact KDE identifies itself as 1.1.1 as much to minor
bug to be worth being fixed before 1.1.2 came out ;-)

Your system runs 1.1.2.

(don't wan't to know which much more serious bugs weren't fixed also ...)
