I'm wondering if anyone else had this problem. One of my friends, running Mandrake 6.1, has encountered the exact same problem I have been getting on occasion under Mandrake 6.0. Upon booth, the system would stcik at the eth0 initialization, and stay frozen until you reboot - the next reboot everything works fine. On my system I ascribed this to some sort of fluke, but since he just encountered the exact same problem on his, very different, system, I figured I'd throw this out and see if anyone either encountered this as well, or if anyone knows why it's doing this. His system: 3Com 3c509b (EtherLink 10baseT ISA), using the 3c509 driver eMachines eTower 333id (Celeron 333, 96 megs of RAM, 3.2 gig HD) Mandrake 6.1 My system: NetGear DEC tulip ethernet card (10/100base-T), using the tipli driver, FIC motherboard (socket-7) with AMD K6-2/450, 128megs of RAM, 10 gb hard drive, 2x25 gb hard drives on Promise IDE controller, Mandrake 6.0 (because it supports the Promise controller). He also mentions: > It didn't happen until after I installed the latest updates, but who > knows whether that's pertinent. I always apply updates, so I'm not sure if it would not have happened without. -- Beauty, brains, availability, personality - pick any two.
