you can't run mouse.pm that way. What you could test (please do :) is
mouseconfig on console-f2. Also look if the serial.o module is insmod'ed (with
lsmod)

yeah, i know. The main problem is your mouse *should* be autodetected... it's
quite tough to relaunch the X server :-(
no time yet to make it work.
