That's beacuse gcc 2.95.x added a number of new CPU optimizations. The
pgcc versions based on gcc 2.95.x are all very unstable (one of the few
things pgcc is still supposed to do better than gcc is mmx optimization,
but I haven#t seen anything that actually compiles with -mmx).
