I have been having some problems with the kernel and the default ppp
scripts they do not work they are looking for /usr/bin/wvdial wich dose
not exist. not to mention by default there is aliases in
/etc/conf.modules for the 2.3.X kernels for using there modules for ppp,
even if you do not install the hack kernel.
I ended up having to use the new scripts that use linuxconf to dial
instead of chat. wich can be a lil bit quirky at one time they were not
reconizing that the modem had been disconected and I had to manualy
disconect the modem!
DrakX- I am still having problems with packages being installed that
were not selected. Mostly the tetex and the postgress and other
databases software (I am asuming this is because I selected "server" ?
But I had gone in and unslected the packages in the package screens
after the catagory screens (using expert mode)
Also there is no way of selecting the compiliers at install time (ie gcc
and egcs) other packages that I had added to the list are also not there
(I did a genhdlist and gendepslist on the dir) only one of the packages
I added apeared (ncftp wich mysterisly dissapered from cooker but was
there in 6.1) I will have to see about the text mode install maybe that
will work better *crossing fingers* I agreee that some people need a lil
less controll and have the os do some of the choices for you but for me
I like compleet controll over what gets installed on my system. Is there
anyway I can do this?
