duh....it's been that long since i messed with trying to install the cd-rw. 
gave up about 3+ mos ago!  figured why burn coasters when i can just switch to
win98 to burn the once a year cd-r.   since it's now up and once i get it
workign, hopefully will be able to do some decent backups etc......maybe
