So far so good on the installation of this device. by using the "expert" option when loading the cdrom.img diskette (from mdk7.0 cooker), i specified "scsi device" and skipped the autoprobe and had to specify options for searching it. The following was passed: aha152x=0x340,11,7 [module]=[Hex IO Addr],[IRQ],[SCSI DEVICE#] once detected I moved onward. Drakex started. This time I (faithfully...ha ha) added/created 3 swap partitions. Selected all packages and found out i errored when making a partition in pq. My /usr needed another 352 mb and /var needed another 11mb, so i went back and found out that i could not umount the /var so that i could del or resize. So i tried the command line and umount was successful, but returning to the "setup filesystems", I kept getting an error "error unmounting /usr: Invalid argument at /usr/bin/perl-install/fs.pm line 134". Same error also for the "/var" partition. Sounds pretty easy to track down!! Going back into pqmagic 5.0 from dos and i got an partition table error #120 found. oops....guess i should've made backups....back if i ever did, that would mean that i was never a computer programmer! lol Luckily this is the second time this has happened so i'm not too worried. see: http://www.powerquest.com/support/ER/er0120.htm I found out that even tho' the DOS pqmagic will display this, you/i should be able to reboot into win98 and fix it via pqmagic (from w/i win98) by rewriting what ever the mndk partitioning prg was doing. Well.....maybe not. eh eh sigh sigh eh eh mmmmm ah ah! went back into (drakx) and deleted the 3 swap partitions that i created with it (including an addition...since i didn't need it). went back to DOS and into pqmagic 5.0....and wammmo!...listed all my partitions! Now isn't this fun! love that adrenline rush when some screws your entire 25gigs of data!!! lol Got to configuring local network and got an error: insmod eepro100 failed Tried again at prompt and: insmod eepro100 failed at /usr/bin/perl-install/commands.pm line 420. (and w/i modules.pm line 339 when doing modprobe). Irq conflict? Haven't seen this prior to installing the scsi card. Choosing to make a boot disk. An error occurred insmod loop failed. *running: insmod_/tmp/loop.o *warning: insmod loop failed at /usr/bin/perl-install/modules.pm line 339 Choose resolution and color depth: (fbserver) Only 640x480 resolution available (@16bit color). Would be nice to see atleast 800x600 for the nvidia geforce chip. There were some GTK and cobol lib errors on teh alt-f1 screen but i restarted/quit before remembering to copy them here (bummer). Can tell you that they were listed after a set of fbserver commands (apperantly for the drakex?). Lothar does not prompt to insert the Mandrake 7.0 cd-rom. (Atapi IDE port) It just uses sign language (opens cdrom tray -mouth - and closes tray). This happens when choosing "your" actual monitor (sony) besides the default installed. Also, the menu applet is somewhat buggy, but is suitable if one is patient. (some that does tap ctrl/alt/del all the time like me) Both, my scsi cdrom & adapter is no longer configured and provides no options w/i the Lothar tool. States that my intel ether express is already configured (*see above - insmod eepro100 failed) Sblive shows on "other devices" (of course). Also includes USB, Chipsets, etc. LS120 is detected as with apperantly all other of my devices. -- Sent from: Lattitude (deg): 32.7130 Longitude (deg): -117.1530 Altitude (ft): 410.0 GMT to Local (hrs): -8.0 (daylight savings enabled) ------------ Created with Linux-Mandrake 6.1! http://www.linux-mandrake.com/ Currently Beta Testing Mandrake Ver 7.0 (CODE NAMED: OXYGEN)
