(I sent this message before, but have never gotten it back on the list,
so I don't think it got there).
If I have a CD I made from an ISO image 2 weeks ago, can I simply
download an updated boot diskette image from one of the mirrors and use
the CD I already have? I don't think any other install option would
work; our network at work is Token-Ring, and my Micron Millennia
Transport P133 notebook has a floppy drive that doesn't work with Linux
(therefore making any boot that takes more than 1 diskette not work).
I have yet to find a graphical Linux distribution installer that works
with my laptop. I'd hate to find a year from now that I can't get a
distribution to install anymore.
Also: why is it that Slackware is the only distribution that will accept
the parameter "floppy=nofifo" at boot time? That's the only way to get
my floppy to work with Linux, but every other distribution's installer
complains it doesn't know what that means.
I do, BTW, have another possible option for installing. I have a 15MB
DOS partition on my laptop. If there were a way to start a PCMCIA/FTP
install using Loadlin, I could try that.
