Hi all,

One of the things that I think will make Linux continue to grow in
popularity is windows compatibility.......

Me, I've had nothing but problems trying to configure Wine. I've heard
from friends, associates, that all you need to do is type "wine" and it
all works. Here's the dump I get when I do that: (both as root, as SU and
as a simple user):
_______________________________________________________

Warning: no valid DOS drive found, check your configuration file.
Warning: could not find wine.conf [Drive x] entry for current working
directory
/home/lou/licq; starting in windows directory.
Invalid path 'c:\windows' for windows directory
Perhaps you have not properly edited or created your Wine configuration
file.
This is either /etc/wine.conf or $HOME/.winerc
or it is determined by the -config option or from
  the WINE_INI environment variable.
Wine has used /etc/wine.conf as configuration file.

Ok, so following the adivce, I searched for the wine.conf file.......

It's an empty file. So I figured I needed to configure it..... not sure
how, i did a search
for wine*

This leads me to the /usr/X11R6/bin/wine directory where wine-config
wine-strip and wine-debug
all reside.

I've tried putting the parameters in the wine.conf by hand...... to no
avail.

Am I missing something? Having this work out of the box would be a boon!

Lou
