Hi,

The only thing my boss left me to try Linux is a Dell XPS P133c, 32MB of RAM
and a Trio64 V+ graphic card with 2MB memory.

1. I burn a CD, boot it and get;
        in second stage install
        _X11TranSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111
        ...blah-blah...
        you may safely reboot your system.
That's strange, because I know this card used to work with the XFree86-S3
driver.

2. Ok, I notice the txt_boot.img, so let's give it a try. Press enter at the
boot prompt, insert my CD, get the "initializing cdrom"... which sits there
forever. A look at the F3 console:

* mounting hdc on /tmp/rhimage as type iso9660
* creating directory /tmp/rhimage rc = 0
* calling mount(/tmp/hdc, /tmp/rhimage, iso9660, -1958209791, (nil))
* removing device file /tmp/hdc
* mounting hdc on /tmp/rhimage as type iso9660
* creating directory /tmp/rhimage rc = 0
* calling mount(/tmp/hdc, /tmp/rhimage, iso9660, -1958209791, (nil))
* removing device file /tmp/hdc
* method selection completed
* state saved to /tmp
* error in exec of second stage loader :-(
* error:No such file or directory

3. For fun, I try the cdrom.img, but it fails to start X as expected.

4. Bummer. Now I boot the txt_bootnet.img floppy, trying a non-anonymous ftp
install. Successful connection up to:
        Error transferring file ftp://.../comps:
        Error setting remote server to passive mode

a look at the F3 console:

* transfering ftp://.../base/comps as /tmp/comps

5. Hmmm... NFS? Why not.

* method selection completed
* writing network information to /tmp/ifcfg-eth0
* state saved to /tmp
* error in exec of second stage loader :-(
* error:No such file or directory

6. I am now desperate. I try an NFS install with the standard network.img
and guess what? X fired up, I can't believe that! The only things different
in the Mandrake/base directory between the NFS server and the CD are the
deplist, deplist.html and hdlist files.

Glad to be so lucky (?) and hoping this mess(age) could help a bit,
