[Cooker] Problems with oxygen beta that I downloaded yesterday

First of all neither kdm nor xdm work.  When I try to start either by
hand they run in the background but don't do a thing.
rpm -qf /usr/bin/kdm
kdebase-1.1.2-30mdk
rpm -qf /usr/X11R6/bin/xdm
XFree86-3.3.6-4mdk

switchdesk does not work.   It runs and everything seams great but when
I log in it's always kde and I hate kde.

lothar did some strange stuff. it hung and it wouldn't be killed.  Every
kill command I sent to it became frozen.

There's more but those were the most annoying.
