I am running the Linux-Mandrake beta on both my desktop and laptop
pc's. They both are working well, with a few minor problems(see end of
letter.) At home, I have a cable modem with RoadRunner service which, I
have to tell you, works great In linux! Simply set up your ethernet card
for DHCP and set your hostname and off you go. A word of caution: for
dual-boot Win98/linux machines if you are just hooking up The modem and
are in windows, before booting back up into linux, run winipcfg. Then,
release your IP before going into linux. Only do this if the modem was
just hooked up. Until I did this, I had a probem claiming IP after The
modem was used for a while and then disconnected.

Now, If there is a way to to stop loading KDM at startup in case of a
Xserver failure, could someone let me know what it is. I also seem to
have a problem when I get into my machine after the install. My cd-rom
will not mount from the icon, and when I try to manually load it it
says, "Supermount is not supported by this kernal." As an additional
note, it seems I can be running different kernals from the same install
cd. My laptop is kernal 2.2.14, while my home systems are 2.2.13 from
the same cd.

Thanks,

Tracy Whitt
