root partition. Partition table cant be read!

I get the following error when try to install to my mandrake 6.1 system.

I have two hdd’s. One ~2.4 gb ( Quantum Bigfoot that came with the Compaq on ide0) and One 4.3 Western Digital as slave on ide0 (I think).

The first partition is only the Compaq presarios bios (which normaly I think I have little problems with installing linux around). Compaq on the Presario 4764 models tended to put their bios’s on the hdd. Dunno why, but it’s a pain when you get a hdd error around there! One needs to usually del/reinstall everything when that happens instead of just replacing the bios chip! Lol

Layout:

First HDD (Primary and Extend Partition follows with only linux swap partitions w/I the extended area)

a) Compaq Bios (Diag Partition)

b) Linux Root

c) Win98 (root)

Second HDD (all are on extended from here out)

a) /usr

b) /home

c) other win98 partitions follow

Have no problems reading/modifying the partitions in win98 and dos with pm5.0.

Help! Can’t upgrade present mandrake 6.1 system with my newly burned 7.0 iso!!

[Cooker] Install/Upgrade to existing /root partition. Partition table cant be read!
