Incidentally, I had an S3 Trio card until a month or so ago... I found it
ran much faster with the XF86_SVGA server than with XF86_S3. YMMV. More
info in the documentation at www.xfree86.org.
We upgraded to a card based on S3 Savage3D... it works well enough but the
XF86_SVGA server in 3.3.5 is known to have some issues with this
chipset. For me, that means improper coloring in certain apps and bad
flickering in text-mode virtual consoles. I've noticed the release notes
for 3.3.6 say that they have done some work on this driver, so I'm hoping
Air will fix my problems. My download is almost finished.
