No, this has nothing to do with it, and if so, it would be the other way
round, I think. :-)

Again, it�s the other way round. It�s the "normal" user who expects 
to get the keys that are printed on the caps of his keyboard when he
types without pressing additional keys or tweak his keyboard
configuration.
"deadkeys" would be for the advanced or special-purposed users who
have reason for not wanting "nodeadkeys". (E.g. Germans that have to 
write lot of text in French would want "deadkeys")

I second that. It also annoyed me. I didn�t think of reporting it here
because I just changed my configuration without a second thought when
getting hit by that. "nodeadkeys" should be the default setup for
german users, I think.
