I have an adaptec card and seagate drive too that no one has been able to
help me get up and running... when i load linux with the drive plugged into
the bus the kernal picks it up as 5 different drives at load... It's the
only device on the chain... i turned off multiple lun support, terminated
properly and still get the same thing... I can load another drive from
seagate and i don't get any errors... the drive giving problems is a 2gig
and the one that loads is a 540meg. Any clue... If you know of a possible
solution just email me direct at [EMAIL PROTECTED],
thanks
Chris

2 solutions:
- put in "alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx" in your conf.modules and requests
to
scsi devices (like cdrecord) will trigger a modprobe.
- put in "alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx" in your conf.modules and do
mkinitrd
and add it to your lilo.conf
