This idea didn't work for me.
Here's what happened
I went to install MDK7.0 on an 8 GB disk with WIN98 on it.
Told partitioner to give 2 GB to Linux (leaving 6GB for Windows)
After it all went horribly wrong and I ended up with a corrupt Windows that
wouldn't boot, I started from scratch.
I deleted the Linux partition (and swap) using the MDK 7 installer,
rebooted to DOS, ran fdisk, deleted and recreated my DOS partition.

This said everything was fine and showed an 8GB partition. I reinstalled
WIN98 (and all my apps), only to find it thought I had a 6GB drive still.

Partition Magic 5 fixed it, but only after I resized the Win98 partition to
6GB, then back to 8GB.

So, after a day of re-installing, the cost of Partition Magic 5, I would
concur that these sorts of problems should have been cleared up before
release.

On my second machine, which has had about every prior release on Madrake on
it without a problem, the install problems are different but just as bad.
It's a P120, 32 MB RAM, 1X6 and 1X2GB drive, 6XCDROM, Diamond Stealth 3D
2000 Pro.
After numerous attempts where the graphical installer wouldn't work, I
finally got it going with the text installer. The text installer is not as
good as what was there. It would not allow individual package selection.

So finally, I'm up and running. But no mouse. Mouseconfig had linked
/dev/mouse to "ttyS0". After manually linking it to /dev/ttyS0, i got my
mouse. How basic an issue is this????

Now to configuring sound. Whereas the sound card (SB16 equivalent) had been
picked up by previous versions of MDK, 7.0 did not configure it correctly.
Had to manually set the DMA to the correct setting. A minor issue, but I'm
curious as to why.

Next, KDE. I chose the video card, monitor and setting the same as they've
been in the past and it said it coudn't do it.
By this stage, I'm fast losing confidence in MDK. Simple things that worked
in the past now don't work.

granted...the install partitioner doesn't work well at all with any
preexisting
windows partitions.

have been advised by powerquest that once you use a partitioner, don't
switch
to others as it may cause other problems.

you'll need to go back into the mdk install prg and del the partitions that
you
created with it or moved to be able veiw the partitions again.

thought this problem would have been cleared before the final release no?
