What security level did you use?  If you chose a medium security level then
you need to allow your users (people other root) access to those devices.

I can slowly see you are very very new to linux and may not know anything

When double clicking on a .wav file, kmpg automatically opens to play but
displays error when clicking play, "kmpg couldn't open the audiodevice! all
decoders stopped".  usually i use the other media player after left
clicking on
a *.wav file.

think the jan 01,00 iso (7.0) , it used media player when double clicking
on a
.wav file (all previous editions had the above error).

now this error is back!  yuck.

to resolve: reassign the default .wav player (would imagine).
