when upgrading with the rsync and then rpm -u or i (etc), the rpms do re-link
to the old link to the new vmlinuz file.  But, does not
re-direct the link w/i the /boot/vmlinuz.smp to point to the new vmlinuz-smp
file.   

have to do manually. to resolve (if rebooted without fixing), can use boot
disk.  if you are lazy (like me) and didn't create one or it doesn't work
'cause it's old or you have a ls120 like me (lol):  at the lilo prompt enter
"linux-up".  this image works to boot up.
