I don't know what this mailing list runs on, but on some other mailing lists
I've subscribed to, all mail that's not from someone subscribed to the list is
automatically rejected.  This'll stop most spam (since they've usually just
harvested the email addy from the web page, not bothered to subscribe to the
list).
