Hello all.

I have a strange issue with gnome sound. I am running a mostly Cooker
box. There are only a few packages which have not been upgraded and
that is mostly due to the Provides: Requires: issue with the kernel
packages which I am discussing in another another thread. The packages
which are not upgraded to the latest Cooker are:

DrakConf-0.34-1mdk.i586.rpm differs from DrakConf-0.34-13mdk
binutils-2.9.5.0.22-1mdk.i586.rpm differs from binutils-2.9.5.0.16-2mdk
gurpmi-0.4-1mdk.i586.rpm differs from gurpmi-0.4-38mdk
kernel-fb-2.2.15-0.7mdk.i586.rpm differs from kernel-fb-2.2.14-15mdk
libgtop-1.1.5-0.1mdk.i586.rpm differs from libgtop-1.1.3-2mdk
libxml-1.8.6-1mdk.i586.rpm differs from libxml-1.7.3-2mdk
nfs-utils-0.1.6-1mdk.i586.rpm differs from nfs-utils-0.1.5-1mdk
nfs-utils-clients-0.1.6-1mdk.i586.rpm differs from nfs-utils-clients-0.1.5-1mdk
util-linux-2.10f-1mdk.i586.rpm differs from util-linux-2.10b-2mdk
xanim-28010-10mdk.i586.rpm differs from xanim-28010-9mdk

Just so you know that none of them will have anything to do with gnome
sound. But otherwise, every package which I do have on my box is Cooker
current.

The problem I am having is that if I logoff from a desktop session where
gnome sound effects are working just fine and then log back on, the gnome
sounds are not working. Sound/esd in general are working because I can
esdplay, or xmms, etc. and hear the sound, it is just the gnome desktop
sound actions I cannot hear.

In order to get it working again I have to go through some weird combin-
ations of disabling gnome sound, logging out, logging on, enabling gnome
sound again, logging off and back on again to have it working.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

b.
