Because it was decimal (0.4mdk) before :)
rpm, glibc, XFree86, kernel are among the ones that are often changed,
patched, tested etc. You can see that here: it is already the 5th rebuild
of the package for the version 3.0.4.
So decimal releases are used, so when it goes out of cooker to an official
Mandrake release, or to the updates page, it can be made as "1mdk"; which
looks better.
