That's interesting, becuase Mandrake 7.0 is the first distribution I've
used where xanim seemed to work on pretty much all my videos, however
there are some legal complications with xanim that mean that some of
the codecs can't be posted or shared as freely as the xanim author
would like owing to agreements he's had to make with the people who
supplied him with the information (or in some cases the executables)
for the codecs.
Were these videos working in your previously distribution of Linux? If
so, what distribution was that? And had you installed it yourself from
the xanim site or did it work out of the box in the disitribution?
A couple things to try:
- If the videos are suitable you could mail me the first few k of one
of them and I can see if I can play them.
- You could go to the xanim home page and get all the codec modules
from there. http://xanim.va.pubnix.com/home.html
If this solve your problem, it's probably legal complications that are
preventing your videos from working.
