Seems like that's not the pci that freezes your box, but > the insmod of the module :( Hi! I have play around a little and the found out the following: The problem is IN THE "insmod_ /tmp/initio.o" I have tried to start installation and the manually extracted module to /tmp and tried to manually load it with insmod_ initio.o, SUPRISE SUPRISE: Controler is detected, BUT THEN insmod just WON'T EXIT! It freezes!! Other consoles run along but insmod freezes... Since I know this controler works just GREAT normally I tried and loaded same module with "insmod -f" under my running kernel. Everything worked OK! Even if module I used was compiled for the "installation" kernel.... I think the problem must be in some option in the installation kernel. Is the PROBE ALL LUN'S on (scsi)?? I think this caused problems when I turned it on in the kernel somewhere in the past...
