dir_so is where is the source gernerally you do :

rpm -bp kernel-2.2.spec

and mv the BUILD/linux to $(ROOT)/source

dir_gen is where all the files is copied, you don't never need to care
about that.

dir_arch is where the archive of kernel is producted (what i give to
pixel).
