I would suggest running rsync with one of the mirrors.. for instance
ftp.sunet.se and when it finishes up you run it once more and get the changed
files. I would also recommend putting it on a spare ext2 partition that won't
take part of the installation and do a hd install..
here follows my rsync script for getting the cooker files from ftp.sunet.se
I guess it could be done alot more fancy than this but it works great.
(this script will update to the latest files and remove all old ones)

cd /mnt/hd/mandrake/cooker
rsync -avl --delete ftp.sunet.se::Mandrake-devel/cooker/ .
