[Cooker] Gigabyte GA-6CXC-1 maotherboard

I have a new Gigabyte GA-6CXC-1 motherboard which supports ATA66.  
Under Linux 7.1beta install it is unstable.  Install completes only
about 1 time in 5.

Under 7.0, /var/log/messages contains:

kernel: PCI-IDE unknown IDE controller on PCI bus 00 device f9
VID=8086 DID=2411

kernel is 2.2.14-15mdk

Anyone got any ideas?
