It was me ! I cannot get my Inspiron 7000 to suspend or go into stanby, even if the relavent script is run by hand ! Moreover, if the BIOS issues a suspend Linux hangs horribly. I have even had to take the battery out before now to get the laptop to power up again. (Yes really.) I have to leave all power saving BIOS settings to off to ensure no lockups and my kcmlaptop settings are ignored anyway !
