OK, I tried "kernel-linus-2.2.15-1mdk.i586.rpm" and, a miracle, it worked
fine! the only change I can find is:
linus (2.2.15-1mdk) : Adaptec AIC7xxx driver version: 5.1.28/3.2.4
mkdfb (2.2.15-1mdk) : Adaptec AIC7xxx driver version: 5.1.29/3.2.4

Probabely the changed something, which breaks zip support :-(
Can't you downgrade to make it work again ???
