You could just leave xfs running as well ! I don't use xfs (I appear to have
more True Type fonts than it can handle), I use xfstt. As you say WP uses
fonttastic, and is happy to launch it / use it (if you start it via 'ntsysv')
with xfstt or xfs running. Even so, I think you'll still get the error message.
I believe cannot find font fixed message is due to not having a 'fontsdir' file
in all the font directories pointed at in XF86Config, but no doubt someone else
will be able to help you there.
