something weird in your install, for sure..
when you install the package, the server is available without doing
anything if the rest was installed okay [i mean, your network, etc.]
i just tested it on latest 7.1 beta.
for your tests, you can use nmap for example. and try to connect on your
own machine with "telnet localhost"..
