Thanks for that - it reminded me that I had already done that some
weeks ago.  But this appears to be a new packaging.

Will do again, but I expect the problem will be to first eliminate
all the present sound handling before installing ALSA.   Any simple
way?   Is editing /etc/conf.modules enough?
