My experiences (with beta 1) were mostly great - I did a recommended
installaton without any problems at all. Using ftp straight from a cooker
mirror.

Only problem is that you choose a language right at the beginning but this
does not give you a chance to use a different keyboard (in my case English
(UK) for install, but a Belgian keyboard). Indeed Belgians are overlooked in
the install - there is neither a variant of the french or dutch installs for
Belgians (except the walon version) and we have a seperate keyboard to our
neighbours. With the UK keyboard installed as a default, I had all sorts of
problems subsequently as the passwords had been recorded with UK default
letters, so that when I had got the right keyboard back on my own after
installation, I could not work out what password had been saved....

For what it's worth I've submitted a Belgian keyboard for the KDE intl
keyboard to the authors yesterday.

The I heard about a second (third?) beta and tried again, this time with the a
customised install. I did not check for a new boot image, but seem to have
stuff dated May 11. Anyway, this time it hung half way through the
installation of the rpms - litterally midway. I looked at the various
diagnositc screens but could see no signs of the impending doom. It was
simply stuck - perhaps merely an errant tcp/ip packets that got lost? - and I
used alt-f2 to shutdown
