I am aware of that, but AFAIK (ie I haven't tested this) thin-clients still start up devfs locally, which runs some perl script a few thousand times (loading up perl each time), which takes a few minutes on a 486/16MB or 586/16MB system, whereas with LTSP, devfs is not used (AFAIK), and a 586/16MB system boots to a kdm login prompt in about 45 seconds. You can use terminal-server with thin-clients, but really thin (slow) ones will do better on LTSP. I must get around to playing with this again soon, specially trying booting without devfs.
